A Brief History

Tokyo Revengers has sold over 65 million copies worldwide since its creation in 2014, earning the Best Shonen Manga prize in the 44th annual Kodansha Manga Awards. Because of its popularity, an anime adaptation was inevitable, so it was unsurprising when Tokyo Revengers became one of the most popular anime of 2021, when Liden Films adapted Ken Wakui’s work.

Fans have been eager to watch Season 2 ever since the first season’s cliffhanger ending in December 2021. Because of this, Tokyo Revengers: Season 2 was signed. But when will Tokyo Revengers: Season 2 premiere?

What Is the Release Date for Tokyo Revengers: Season 2?

Tokyo Revengers: Season 2 will begin streaming globally exclusively on Disney+ in January 2023.

Only the month and year of Season 2’s release have been revealed, so the air date is still unknown. However, you may set your expectations for January next year despite that.

Liden Films will animate Season 2, just as they did for Season 1ā€™s 24 episodes. The episode count has not been disclosed for Season 2, but based on the length of the upcoming arc, 12 episodes is a decent estimate.

What happens in Tokyo Revengers: Season 2? (Warning…Spoiler alert!)

The manga’s Christmas Showdown Arc, also known as the Black Dragon Arc, is getting adapted into Season 2. You may read it yourself; it spans Chapters 78-121. However, you may want to begin at Chapter 74 since Season 1 cut the Valhalla arc and ended at Chapter 73.

In the season finale, Kazutora saved Takemechi from getting shot. After escaping, he told Takemechi that Toman had turned evil after Mikey was influenced by Black Dragon. Later that night, Takemechi was suddenly arrested by Naoto. He then showed him the consequences of his past actions on their timeline.

Naoto offers to help Takemichi fix everything by traveling back in time and preventing Hina’s assassination. This time around, Takemichi became evil and ordered the murder on Hina. He is so distraught when he realizes this that he shakes Naoto’s hand again to return to the past and make everything right.

Takemichi aims to stop a conflict between Toman and Black Dragon when he travels back in time. However, he finds out that Hakkai Shiba, the Second Division Vice-Captain of Toman, is part of Black Dragon. Taiju’s younger brother is Hakkai, and he is forced by his malicious older brother to become a Black Dragon. When he realizes that Hakkai joining Black Dragon causes the horrendous future he witnessed, Takemichi understands this to be the catalyst of Tomans downfall.

Conclusion

So for those of you who were asking “is Tokyo Revengers finished?” the simple answer to that is a resounding NO! January 2023 is right around the corner and soon we’ll be seeing our favorite members from Toman kicking ass once again. I highly encourage you to either watch, or re-watch the series if you need a refresher. Season 2 of Tokyo Revengers has been long overdue, but something tells me it’ll be worth the wait.
